| Biothane is a type of vinyl over a poly-type webbing. There are several types, the one I use is the beta, although I use several other types for overlays or special orders. It even comes in a glow in the dark form. The beta was designed to look and feel like leather. The Amish designed it and make all sorts of things out of it, but mainly make harnesses out of it. It was originally designed for harnesses used in harness racing, as well as to add color. I now carry 13 colors in stock. The biothane is wash and wear. You can even put bleach on the white but do not use "mean green" as it will stain the white. You can put it in the top rack of your dishwasher. Just soap and water for cleanup. NO OILING!!! The biothane is stronger than leather - 1000lbs per square inch pull strength. I only use solid brass hardware--or stainless steel on request. If I am going to make it , I will work with only the best. Each piece is cut, ends colored, and sealed. All holes are burnt and sealed. The thread I use is either 207 or 277 - very strong and double stitched whenever possible. Each stitch is a lock stitch so it won't unravel. The comfort and safety of the horse is my #1 priority. I guarantee fit and satisfaction. I try to build so parts are replaceable - comes in handy if you want to add a color for a special occasion or accidentally break a component. I just replace the piece and you don't have to buy a whole new bridle! |
